Te Kaumatua
Nau mai, piki mai e te Rangatira.
We welcome Matua Peter Jackson to the role of Kaumatua for the
Council. Peter’s tribal affiliations include Te Atiawa and Taranaki iwi.
Working in business overseas, Peter returned to Aotearoa to support the
kaumatua work of his parents (Sam and June Jackson). Peter holds a
Bachelor of Commerce and Administration from Victoria University of
Wellington. For the Council, Peter brings with him a mixture of
knowledge and skills that include tikanga Māori, governance and
business.
The Council acknowledges the importance of the Kaumatua role that
helps guide, support and challenge the Council as it carries out
responsibilities in line with Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
We look forward to working alongside Matua Peter to support the nursing profession.
