Te Kaumatua

Nāu mai, piki mai e te Rangatira.

Matua Peter Jackson is Kaumatua for the Council. Peter’s tribal affiliations include Te Āti Awa and Taranaki iwi. After working in business overseas, Peter returned to Aotearoa to support the kaumatua work of his parents (Sam and June Jackson).

Peter holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Administration from Victoria University of Wellington. Peter draws from his knowledge and skills that include tikanga Māori, governance and business to advise the Council.he Council acknowledges the importance of the Kaumatua role that helps guide, support and challenge the Council as it carries out responsibilities in line with Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

The Council values working alongside Matua Peter to support the nursing profession.
