Hepatitis C Medication supply

Introduction

Registered nurses who are practising within the area of hepatitis C screening and treatment may apply to the Nursing Council for authorisation to supply the Hepatitis C medication.

Registered nurses approved to supply the Hepatitis C medication will have this authorisation included in their scope of practice and recorded in the public information in the public register.

Eligibility

Registered nurses must meet the following criteria to apply for authorisation to supply Hepatitis C medication:

  • A current annual practising certificate
  • Evidence that the applicant has completed an approved training course within the last five years
  • Be providing care for health consumers with Hepatitis C

Application process

Applications can only be completed via MyNC. From your 'Details' page go to ‘I want to apply for - 'Hepatitis C medication supply'.

You will be prompted to upload in PDF form:

  • A current CV detailing your work history
  • Evidence of your successful completion of an approved Hepatitis C medication training course
  • Written confirmation from a programme manager, clinical lead or clinical manager that supply of this medication is within your scope of practice and competence

Renewal

Registered nurses authorised to supply the Hepatitis C medication must provide evidence every five years that they remain competent to do so either by supplying:

Written confirmation from a programme manager, clinical lead or clinical manager that supply of this medication is within your scope of practice and competence.

Or

Successful completion of an approved Hepatitis C medication education programme up-date within the five years.
