Nursing Council Chair Professor Sharon Brownie recognised in King’s Birthday Honours
The Nursing Council of New Zealand congratulates its Chairperson, Professor Sharon Brownie, on being appointed a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit (MNZM) in the King’s Birthday Honours, for services to health and nursing education.
Professor Brownie provides governance leadership to the Council, supporting the Council’s role in protecting public safety and promoting high standards of nursing practice.
Professor Brownie has made enduring contributions to nursing, health leadership and education over nearly five decades. Her career includes leading major initiatives to strengthen health services and workforce capability, including community-based health developments, mental health reform, and national policy and clinical guidance.
The Council acknowledges Professor Brownie’s significant contribution to the nursing profession and to improving health outcomes for communities in Aotearoa New Zealand and internationally.
