Principles for quality and safe prescribing
practice
In partnership with
six other responsible authorities, we have just published
Principles for quality and safe prescribing practice.
This resource outlines safe and
people-centred prescribing practice. It is intended to support equitable
access, culturally safe practice and to give effect to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

The principles have
been developed collaboratively by the responsible
authorities regulating professions that are authorised to prescribe.
They are a complementary resource to the Council’s prescribing competencies and
guidance documents. Nurses should apply the principles
alongside standards and guidance documents to maintain consistently safe,
high-quality, best prescribing practice and ensure public safety.
