New Nursing Council Strategic Plan/Mahere RautakiTēnā koutou The Nursing Council has published our new Strategic Plan, which will last from 2022 to 2024. This strategic plan sets out what we intend to achieve over the next two years. It outlines the priorities that will drive our actions, our projects, and the way we approach our work over that period. We know that the profession, your practise environments, and nursing education are all currently facing major challenges and changes. The Council has therefore decided to plan for two years rather than five. This will allow us to revisit our strategic direction in 2024, and refresh it where necessary. By this time we should have a clearer picture of how new health and education structures are operating, and what the lasting effects of COVID have been on you, the way in which you work, and how you learn. The Strategic Plan sets out five priorities which will guide the decisions that Council makes, our interactions with others, and where we focus our resources over the next two years. In addition to priorities focused on competencies and standards, our evidence and data work, and communicating well, the new Strategic Plan includes priorities focused explicitly on equity for Māori, and on promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.
